Tanvir Mehedi

Tanvir Mehedi is a healthcare manager and social science researcher with expertise in sociology and public health. He currently serves as a Research Assistant at Dr Khan Social Impact Lab, where he contributes to projects on health equity, workplace safety, and social justice in healthcare. He is also the Center Manager at the Super Specialised Hospital, Bangladesh Medical University, and has prior teaching experience as a guest lecturer in political science. Academically, he holds degrees in Sociology (BSS, MSS) from Jagannath University and a Master of Public Health (Hospital Management) from Northern University Bangladesh.

She is currently a Research Assistant at Dr. Khan Social Impact Lab, and an Intern at the Association for Land Reform and Development (ALRD), where she focuses on women’s land rights, social justice, and grassroots legal empowerment.

Mutasim Billah

Mutasim Billah completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Sociology from Jagannath University. For his Master’s thesis, he studied the health and safety experiences of gig workers in Dhaka city. He now works as a Research Assistant at Dr. Khan Social Impact Lab (SI Lab), where he also serves as the lab’s coordinator. Mutasim is involved in several research projects on topics such as gig work, critical pedagogy, program evaluation, workplace health and safety, and sex education. He was the first student from the Department of Sociology at Jagannath University to receive the “Emerging Leadership Award,” which recognized his contributions to civic engagement and co-curricular activities.

Md. Shawn Sheikh

Md. Shawn Sheikh

Md. Shawn Sheikh is a ‘research fellow’ of the SI LAB, and he is currently teaching at the General Education Department at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), where he teaches and works across different fields using ideas from ethics and philosophy. Mr. Sheikh obtained his B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. in Philosophy from Jagannath University, Bangladesh. Currently, he is also doing his second M.A. by research in the Department of Government and Politics at Universiti Putra Malaysia, where his research will explore the political situation of Bangladesh by combining both normative and empirical approaches. He has been collaborating with this lab by raising philosophical and critical questions about sociological research methods and existing ideas on health, wellbeing, and labour market issues.
